Actions to protect the environment produce benefits such as:
- housing - through improved energy efficiency of buildings
- social progress - through action to combat fuel poverty
- economic growth - through more efficient use of resources, such as re-use, recycling and recovery of waste.
Government Offices have the key role of communicating the Government’s environmental and sustainable development policies to a wide range of organisations and individuals. We co-ordinate regional activity, working in partnership with other regional organisations including the Regional Development Agencies, Regional Assemblies, the regional offices of the Environment Agency, other governmental agencies and non-governmental organisations.
We also assist with the development of Government departments' policies through ensuring the regional perspective is championed at Government level.
